The "Truth" roars back! Wouldn’t it be incredibly refreshing if people could cut the mealy-mouthed, politically correct gibberish and, for once, just tell the truth? That’s exactly what Jack L. Klinger does in the second edition of his wildly popular 487 Indisputable Truths. Geared to today's age when the truth still seems in dangerously short supply, 487 Indisputable Truths 2nd Edition—For 2012 and Beyond is fully updated, more relevant, and more meaningful—and even more fun!—and once again tells it “like it is” about the United States, education, entertainment, the media, politics, people, the government, and sports—plus a whole host of other topics that are no longer exempt from the truth. Here is but a sampling of the undeniable gems you’ll discover inside • People who want to live in the United States need to speak English • Absolutely no harm would be done anyone by saying the Pledge of Allegiance, allowing a minute of silence for prayer, or posting the Ten Commandments in schools • A comb-over haircut will not fool anyone into thinking you’re not bald • The greatest contribution to humanity by the French is not fine wines, gourmet cooking, the French fry, or even the proper way to kiss; it is their 1985 sinking of the Greenpeace ship Rainbow Warrior • AIDS is not spread by a lack of federal funding • People with names like Chmura, Grbac, and Hrbek should be required to buy a vowel • Many people are backwards They think a life-saving heart surgeon doesn’t deserve $400,000 but an athlete somehow merits $8 million to play a kids’ game At times deadly serious, at others outrageously irreverent, 487 Indisputable Truths Second Edition—For 2012 and Beyond boldly nixes the namby-pamby nonsense and presents the truth in succinct, straightforward style. So kick back and get ready because you’re bound to enjoy. Oh, and sleep tight, knowing that the truth never goes out of style!

Probably everyone has heard the expression "less is more," and this description seems almost tailor-made to Jack L. Klinger's 487 Indisputable Truths (for people who are not un-American weasels, hypersensitive PC types, or humorless bores). Klinger wastes no time in getting to the point, presenting 487 straightforward, no-nonsense Truths that don't mince words.
Klinger-a man of obvious convictions-has the fortitude to jump right in and call it like it is about God, families, politics, and all that makes this country great. I love the way he celebrates this great country in Truth number one, "The United States is the greatest country ever conceived," and keeps it coming in the following Truth with, "The United States would be even better if more people believed in God, respected their elders, and generally voted Republican." Very true.
Klinger opines on a bunch of other topics, too, that make for some interesting, and sometimes very funny, reading. Truth number 432, "No matter where you live, you will always have at least one weird neighbor," sure is accurate and number 112, "A comb-over haircut will not fool anyone into thinking you're not bald," cracks me up.
But be forewarned: Truths doesn't pull any punches. So, if you are described in the subtitle, it's simply not for you. A good example of the no-holds-barred approach is Truth number 218, "Members of NARAL Pro-Choice America (or whatever its name is today) and the National Organization for Women could save themselves a lot of time by not whining about their abortion rights-nobody wants to have sex with any of them anyway." Hello!
And don't get me wrong about the book's inherent simplicity: While it would be easy to dismiss Truths as overly simple, the careful reader will see that the book challenges one to think more deeply. A good example is Truth number 130, which reads, "You cannot be a fighter pilot and get through Yale undergrad and Harvard Business School and be a dummy." Klinger never once mentions a name, but the astute reader will figure out it's a clear reference (and tribute of sorts) to President Bush.
Ultimately, although you could read Truths cover-to-cover in under an hour, it's not the kind of book you read and then stick on the bookshelf to collect dust. It's the kind you'll read and keep handy on a cocktail table for future reference when you think, "What did he say about such-and-such?" And, believe me, you will ask yourself just that!

Very enjoyable read, though it's not the type of book you read all at once. Perfect for when you have just a few minutes to kill, and are looking for a little entertainment to pass the time. Good "stocking stuffer" or birthday type material for conservative friends and family, just make sure to get a copy for yourself!
Better get your copy while you still can. The author, Jack L. Klinger, just passed away on or about April 26, 2014. I have the first edition autographed by Jack, Great, fun reading.

RIP Jack, may you finally find peace.
